Grading Policy 2009-2010
Your grades for my classes will be averaged. Each type of assignment/assessment will be a percentage of your quarter grade. The following sheet outlines how your quarter averages will be determined for the class:
Dailies/Journals 15%
Dailies/Journals 15%
Homework/Classwork 20%
Quizzes 25%
Exams/Essays/ Projects 40%
Quizzes 25%
Exams/Essays/ Projects 40%
Journals/ Dailies: Some classes will begin with journal writing. You are expected to respond thoughtfully and thoroughly to the prompts which are presented. Other classes will begin with daily grammar entries.
Homework/Classwork : Some work that is assigned will be reviewed in class and some will simply be checked off as completed. Other times homework will be collected and reviewed by me. In both of these situations, I do not accept late homework. Students will have until the end of the school day to hand in the assignment for partial credit (max.70%). Work that does not come in by the end of the school day will be entered as a zero. Class work missed due to absence may be made up within 3 days of the absence as outlined in the student handbook.
Quizzes and Exams: You will have frequent quizzes throughout the quarter and at least two exams. You will always be given sufficient notice about when these will be given, a thorough review of the material, and the format (s) of the assessment. Therefore, I do not allow students make up failed quizzes or exams.
Exams, Essays and Projects: All essays MUST be typed. I expect all essays, projects, and presentations on the due date. For the first semester if you are not prepared, this will result in a loss of FIVE POINTS PER DAY UP TO FIVE DAYS, AFTER WHICH THE HIGHEST GRADE YOU MAY ACHIEVE WILL BE 50. There will be no make up for failed exam, essays or projects.
I have read and understand the grading policy as outlined by Ms. Blain.
